Dell Inspiron 1501 onboard wifi adapter driver help

    Hello all, from hitek,

    Wow nice forum!
I was searchn on the net for Dell Inspiron 1501 help.

    PLEASE HELP

    Subject of help needed:
Dell Inspiron 1501 onboard wifi card not working with Windows 7 Ultimate and NEED help getting a working driver.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 currently using XP w/SP3 as I'm typing now.

I have made a Acronis backup image of my Dell 1501 laptop so I can quickly within 30 min.s pop back my Windows 7 Ultimate back on when I can either find and get a Dell Inspiron 1501 onboard wifi driver that works OR buy a 100% sure Windows 7 USB wireless adapter with driver.

I have freshly formatted hd and fresh full install of Windows 7 Ultimate and seems to load and work great BUT.....

I went to Dell support / Driver download website page and I entered in our Dell Service Tag number and in the drag box, they are NO Windows 7. So, I'm guessing they do not support and offer a Windows 7 driver for my onboard wifi card?

I currently have stinky dialup internet and live in a rurual country area but sometimes go up in town to visit a spot that has cable wifi connection. My onboard wifi card with XP works great.. I have installed Vista and the drive for my onboard wifi card works fine. I went in to town to connection to cable with wireless router high speed connection to get Windows 7 updates but this onboard wifi card seems to recieve and reports wifi signals fine but trying to get it to connect and go is another. I have tried many many different wifi signals and areas and this onboard wifi card with Windows 7 does not want to work. I'm guessing it needs a Windows 7 driver. Do you think its not working cause of the driver too?

I need help finding out if they are anyone else with a Dell Inspiron 1501 have Windows 7 and have they found a Windows 7 driver work?

If I wanted to buy a 100% sure best range hottest USB wireless adapter coming with Windows 7 driver, what Name and Model would you recomend?

PLEASE HELP, and thank you all so much.

    Please reply.

Hello hitek, and welcome to Windows Seven Forums!

Since the Vista wifi works I would recommend you download that and install it, in compatibility mode or manually if necessary.

    Cheers!

The Dell Vista driver I found is for 32 bit, so you will want to install 7 x32 Ultimate, not the x64 bit version to use this wifi driver.

    Cheers!

    Hello everyone...

    Santa came early!
Boyd N4TUX needed a good long range Windows 7 USB wireless internet adapter for his Dell Inspiron 1501 so he got one.

$69 Linksys WUSB600N Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N USB Network Adapter at walmart.

Found some owners of this exact adapter and said it works perfect with they're Windows 7.

    Hope it will.

Thank you all for your replies.

    Hello again from hitek,
Well we have so far had a chance to try my new usb wifi adapter out with xp pro and works fine thus far. But us having this South West Va. heavy wet snow and power outages like crazy we haven't yet had a chance to put our handy backup image of Windows 7 Ultimate back on and try it with our new usb wifi adapter yet. We live on a hill and with this extreme wet super slick snow, we can get off the hill but LOL getting back up the hill and back home is the zinger LOL.

Looking forward to Christmas and LOVE this silver dollar snow flakes!!!!!
But we don't like 70% of all our county being without eletric power and no heat.

We are praying for those in our county without power and heat.

Thank you for all your replies. I do hope this new usb linksys N wifi adapter works for my Windows 7.
I will post and let you all know if it does.

    Reply if you will.

God bless you all and hope you and your family have a up coming great CHRISTMAS!
