    newer driver older?

Yesterday, Win7 update offered to install a "newer" Realtek driver for my gigabit pci network card. Driver version on offer was 7.2.xxxx

My installed driver is version 7.9.xxx! WTH is Win7 doing?

Personlay I never use windows update to update my drivers I go directly to the manufacturers site. To many bad news stories with people uisng windows update. If it is working to your satisfaction then I would leave it or see if thier is an update on your manufacturers site. Perfect example is they are offering a older driver than you have. Fabe

Use windows update only when you initially install win x. After that go to the manifacturers site for all other updated divers. This excludes chipset drivers and then go to the various sites for your mobo.
