Hello MG01, and welcome to the Seven Forums

If you still have a working Vista install you may want to try this method ....

    Windows 7 driver solution

If you are running Only windows 7 you may find that Drivermax will find the driver you need or you could check the HP site for the latest compatible driver for Vista

Hi, since DriverMax didn't work out and WinVista didn't show me the Driver filename, I had to dump the driver myself.

Below in this reply I uploaded the driver (attached) for the HP Deskjet 660C and compatible with 656C according to HP (see link below).

Install the Driver manually via the Device Manager, then choose the option to select the file manually; browse the uncompressed folder I have attached and select the prnhp001.inf file. You'll see the Driver Is Not Signed dialog, but you already know what to do.

I have tested it with the 656c and worked fine on Windows Seven RTM and Vista.

    * See 2nd reply to read the method you can use to dump the OEM Vista driver for your printer (the one I used).

    * EDIT: I have just found the Driver for the 660c on the Windows Update Catalog, anyway this method could be used for other type of drivers.

Method you can use for dumping any other driver:

    1. Install Your Printer Manually on a Vista System. (I used VMware Workstation)

    2. Once your Printer is installed on your Vista System, go to the following folder: C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers

    3. There you'll see 4 other folders: color, IA64, w32x86 and x64.

    4. You would normally enter the w32x86 folder but if you have any other Operating System/machine type, like a 64-bit system you would go into the x64 folder.

    5. Then you will see randomly (to me) named folders, mine were: 3 and PCC.

    6. In my system, my drivers were on the "3" named folder, so I copied the entire folder.

    7. Now you need your .INF file, so we open the folder: C:\Windows\inf

    8. There you will see a lot of files and folders, but the ones we are interested in are the files that start with "pr", for example: prxxxxx.inf

    9. Now it's time to select your .INF file to copy to your driver folder (the one you just copied on step #6.

    10. Below is a description of each printer file required for your printer model.

    11. When you find the corresponding .INF file for your printer model be sure to copy this file to your Driver pack/folder.
