Windows 7 Installation DVD Driver not found fix

I have been having a problem installing windows 7 onto my gateway gm5643e for about a day due to the whole DVD Driver not found message. I now have the DVD installing windows 7 because i happened to have a HDD IDE to USB adapter, and I actually connected my DVD Drive to it. Also I had to go into my BIOS settings and change the DRIVE from AHCI to IDE.

The funny thing about this installation is I had to do the same thing to my Macbook Pro because the freaking slot loading optical drive malfunctions...

I am having the same problem with a USB installation of win 7.... asked for you to insert a drivers disc or USB device... I have tried all settings in the bios. ther eis no AHCI device settings on there and it is on the latest Bios Version that I installed. Even Disabled the sata port for the CD and it still comes up with an error. I have used the same disk to install on another machine and it is sweet !!! MAchine is an HP DX7300 slim tower.

    2 hours later ......

Figured it all out .... it was not a driver issue .... here is what I did.

Loaded disk... when it cam up with EMS install 32 bit and the other option was 64 bit ... I was choosing 64 bit and the issue of the driver would arise. when I boot up up and go for the 32 bit option .... it would load instantly and then give me the choice to load 64 or 32 bit OS .... its all GOOD!!!!
Did not even need to come on here as I helped myself

I too am having trouble installing Windows 7. It doesn't even give me the option of 32-bit or 64-bit, it just says there are drivers missing and doesn't specify anything else.

    My laptop:
    Dell Inspiron 1501
    Bios: 2.6.1
Most updated ATI graphics driver, audio driver, all other drivers
    60GB HDD

I just don't understand. I've looked pretty much everywhere online to see what to do and nothing is giving me answers.

was it originally installed with Win 7? have you upgraded the latest BIOS?
have you set your bios to IDE?

The system will fail to load if you have ACHI set up in your bios.

FIXED: "device driver missing" during Windows 7 install

All I had to do was move the DVD drive (Sony DRU-830A Dual Layer RW) to the primary IDE bus and set it as the slave (my HD is IDE and the master device on the primary IDE bus). The installation process would not find the appropriate device drivers no matter what I did when the DVD drive was set as the master on the secondary IDE bus. Even Sony's documentation says to make sure the device is master on the secondary IDE bus. Wrong! Go figure ...

    Fix

I had the same problem. (DVD drive drivers not found, but was able to browse its contents). I just re-burned the Windows 7 .iso as UDF with a x6 speed on a x16 Traxdata DVD+R using Nero 8. Worked like a charm.

Just in case someone is yet to find a solution for the problem "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing etc" when installing Windows7, none of the solutions suggested here worked for me, what ended up being my issue was a faulty HDD?? once this was replaced all good. cheers
