    usbaudio.sys corrupted

I believe my usbaudio.sys is corrupted.

I have a number of different devices that I am trying to install, all of which use the generic 'USB Audio Driver'. I have set up and use these devices on 6 different windows 7 machines. On this machine - a Lenovo X301 - they won't intsall. These are microphones and keyboards and drumpads.

    salient factoids

    I am using a lenovo x301.

I am trying to connect a series of music devices (keyboards and microsphones) to my laptop to no avail. here are the pertinent facts:

    - The devices all work on 6 other Windows 7 machines of a variety of types
    - The devices all use the generic 'USB Audio Device' drivers. There are no specific drivers for these devices. on all the machines they all use usbaudio.sys.
    - My USB key seems to work - so the USB ports are basically functional.
    - The devices friendly names are all identified, they show up with yellow triangles.
    - The .sys and .dlls that are used on the other 6 machines are present on the X301
    - When I go into the device manager and try to manually choose the 'USB Audio Device' driver - it is not available. i spent hours looking for it : - )

    I am mystified.

    Help :-(

    Hi Howard, Welcome to SF,

You could get drivers at Lenovo Support & downloads - Windows 7 BETA Drivers and Utilities see whether anyone of them works

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the pointer Jack.

I have already done that - sadly.

The biggest issue is that I think this is a core windows driver (not machine/device specific)....which is why there is an issue.

This leads me to ask this question. The installation disc is it a retail version,OEM or one you burned and ISO of? We also need to know what X301 it is as they list 7 different ones 2774, 2776,2777,2778,2779,4057and 4182 and as many as 50 different models. Once we know this we can look up the avalible drivers. Starting with the chipset drivers which should include the USB 2.0 Thanks Fabe

    Thanks,

It is the retail version of the software - and I think the X301 type is 4057-cp2 (there are a lot of numbers on the bottom ).
