In the Beta testing installs of Win7, we had best luck of installs with 2gb of memory or less. Then when everything was running smoothly we could add the memory back in with no problems. Is the memory chips easily accessable from the bottom of the laptop. This sounds like one powerful laptop.

Hmmm... I can open it up. So far the only parts i opened up were the hard drive bays because one of the event viewer things said that one of the RAID ports failed an I/O test or something like that i wanted to take a look at the hard drives and reseat them (to no avail). Not to be an intentional pain in your butt but if there are other options i could check out first i would rather do that as i dont want to risk breaking it lol... cost WAAAAAAAAAAAY too much even for menial risks =P Oh and an update... a friend of mine who is certified as a computer repair tech googled some stuff and said that it might be an issue with windows 7 having RAID controllers and NVidias RAID controllers that come with the chipset driver could be fighting. That sentance i just typed blew my mind so if anyone could let me know if what she said was logical and what i could do about it that would be great lol.

Just out of curiosity, what is your SATA controller mode set to in your BIOS? non-RAID, AHCI, RAID?

Interesting. Try turning it to non-RAID.

Try turning it to AHCI. If it works, it works. If not, nothing is lost.
