nVidia GeForce 8600M Drivers  

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my nVidia drivers. When I first installed W7, I installed the GeForce drivers (big mistake). Then I installed the automatic update of nvidia drivers that W7 downloaded. This lead to problems. I have now unistalled all drivers. Windows then looked for it's own drivers, and said they were installed. However, Aero doesn't seem to be working (all taskbars are gray).
I can't download the drivers from the nVidia site, because for some reason they haven't put the W7 drivers for mobile gfx cards online. I can't download the driver via Automatic Update because Windows seems to think I already installed it. Does anybody know how I can find these drivers?

PS- I tried via the acer.com site, but they only have Vista/XP drivers.
PPS- I run an Acer Aspire 5520.

This is the same driver that came up when I searched nvidia's site for 64-bit Win7 drivers for my card (GeForce 8600M). I downloaded and installed these day before yesterday and had to do a system restore because it screwed so many things up. Everytime I tried to watch a streaming video on full screen my screen would freeze, several of my video games locked up, and there were a couple of other random little bugs that I can't remember.

My big problem with the generic windows driver I have now is that it keeps telling me that hardware acceleration isn't enabled and that's making a lot of things run poorly. Does anyone know a way for me to enable hardware acceleration on my machine without installing this buggy driver? Windows help doesn't even have a page on hardware acceleration. (/sigh)

I installed the Nvidia drivers downloaded from NVidia website, this was straight forward, after reboot screen resolution was ok.
Then I manually had to enable Aero, but unfortunately I forgot how I did it.

Maybe you can try to install Nvidia driver again?
