Frustrated I received my Asus UL30A-X5 machine today, loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium.
This is my replacement as I had a loose battery issue on the last.
I love Windows 7.
My machine as a SD card reader. On the last, it worked great.
On this one, when I insert the card into the machine, I get the following Error:
"Devices did not install properly".
I did a system scan to see what was wrong and I get this message: Hardware Changes Might Not have been detected
I am completely baffled as to what the issue is. I checked my card in another machine and the card works fine. I also reinstalled the drivers from Asus in case that was the issue, but it's apparent that Windows is not recognizing the card.
Can anyone please advise me as to what the fix for this might be? Now, when I insert the card, it does nothing...no sound, no message, nothing.
Thanks for the help

Try uninstalling the drivers for the SD card that you installed, then reboot and reinstall them if that fails do a system restore and install them again. That might help you.

I would have to wonder...If i buy one computer that had to be returned beacuse of shoddy workmanship or faulty hardware....why I would expect the second machine just like it from the same people to be any different....perhaps it needs to be returned as well? Second thought...If I pay money for a product that is gaurnteed to work...but dosen't...I want my money back to buy a better product....just my opinion. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number I made it OS Win7 Ultimate CPU Celeron E1400 @ 2 gig dual core Motherboard MSI MS-7529 Memory 4 gig dual channel Graphics Card nVidia 6600LE 512mgs mem Sound Card On Board Realtek HD Monitor(s) Displays 1 Sceptre Flat Screen Resolution I like 1280x800 Keyboard MS Dgital Media Pro Mouse MS Optical 3000 Hard Drives System Drive: 300 gig Maxtor SATA3 (It was cheap)

That's a reasonable position. But not all computers are "shoddy". I bought 4 of them and they all work perfectly well. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Well, I did as mentioned but did not work...restored my computer to right after I installed Microsoft Office which I put on right after I received my machine.
I'm really puzzled as to what the heck is going on.
Something definitely with my machine at this point or the drivers. I'm just not sure how this could have happened at this point.
That error message that I put in bold down below in my original...what does this mean? And what is the fix with that message?
If anyone knows the answer for this I would appreciate it.

Go to Device Manager > Portable devices. Then double click on every device it shows and see whether it says "This device is working properly" - if not, go to the driver tab, uninstall the driver and reboot. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

My trusty old Novatech card reader isn't even detected by Windows 7 x64, I had to swap it out for a completely new one LOL... I'm hoping by SP1 it might get a new lease of life because it works fine under x86, and Windows detects it and loads generic drivers all by itself... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Lenovo USB laser "Thinkpad" Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Crucial M4 SSD, archives on twin Western Digital Caviar Black WD2002FAEX, 2TB, 7200rpm HDD's, Samsung Ritemaster CD/DVD Burner...
