Actually you had it right pepply, the HP Pavilion dv9000 is indeed a notebook PC and will require the notebook version of those drivers.
That particular driver for the 6150 Go, can be obtained by going to the link below. Just click on the red "download driver" and you are good to go.
The Windows update version is only for 64 bit notebooks which is why it failed to install. The driver below is the Windows 7 32 bit version made just for notebooks.

The driver from the HP support site might also work but there is no mention of Windows 7 support for your notebook there.
