Asus M3A / ATI SB600 / ATI Chipset RAID drivers 64-bit

Hi all,

This is my first post but after searching the internet trying to find RAID drivers to work with 64-bit Windows 7 when using an Asus M3A motherboard, or another model using the ATI SB600 RAID driver, I have discovered a lot of people are having an issue and are having to use IDE emulation mode.

I was lucky to stumble across this post on the AMD forums with a working driver:

If this driver ever gets removed I will keep a copy, please send me a message on this forum and I'll email it to you, it works!

Several people have suggested downloading combinations of drivers or forcing the use of older ones, but this one does work straight away, no hassle.

P.S. To save people reading to the end of this thread a possible solution is to use a 64-bit ONLY Windows 7 DVD to install using the above drivers, people are having problems when using the 32/64-bit combination DVD.

Hi, the first of all, thank you.

The second, I've a MB: M3A32MVP DELUXE. Now I've running the WIN XP_64 on a RAID0 with the SB600 but I tryed install WIN7 and I've used few drivers (vista_64/86, the yours...) and it always give the same error, if you would give me your Mail, il I could send you a screenshoot with the error.

Hello,

It appears private messaging isn't possible and so I don't break forum rules I can't post my email address, however, if you can upload your screenshot to something like PhotoBucket and then put the link on this site I can have a look for you.

What may happen is your system is getting confused with all the drivers, if you don't have any data you want to save then you can delete the partition and create a new one, then try and install windows again using the delivers I recommend. NOTE DELETING A PARTITION WILL DELETE ALL INFORMATION ON IT

I realize that the photo is too small so the window said:

to continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit driver. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable Windows installation.

Hi,
I can't quite see the name of the driver already listed, is this the driver that is already installed, or is it the one you are trying to install? Please type the name of the driver in the box, it doesn't look like the one I used.

ok, I 've just uncompress the file I donwloaded and copied it in a pen. When I had to choose a partition I chose the "Load Driver" opcion and choose the pen folder that I'd downloaded, then appears a controler which name is:
ATI AHCI Compatible RAID Controller (C:\RAID Win7 SB600\ahcix64s.inf) (x64)

I choose it an it said me:
to continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit driver. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable Windows installation.

If I haven't anwered to your question, say what you want I do.

I've checked your motherboard and it states you have two RAID controllers one is the SB600 and the other is the "Marvell® 6121 and 6111 SATA controller", I would advise you check where your hard drives are plugged in (which controller), if you look at your motherboard manual it will identify which ports go to which controller.

If you put them both into the Marvell controller then go here ASUSTeK Computer Inc. and click on downloads, then vista 64-bit, then download the "RAID" drivers and extract all the files to your USB flash, that might work.

Hi, I've checked it and the sata are plugged in the sb600 ports...

I don't know why it doesn't work, what did you do to install win7 in the RAID0 with the SB600? may be I've done something wrong, one step...

Hello,

Could you double check you are using 64-bit (x64) Windows 7, when I installed Windows 7 it didn't mention 32-bit drivers like yours does.

If you are installing 32-bit Windows 7 then the drivers I supplied won't work and I'm afraid I have no way of testing if any 32-bit drivers out there will work.

Failing that it may be of help to try the Marvell controller, this will be a completely different set of drivers and you should get a clean install. Also, personally, I would rather send all RAID instructions to a chip separate to the southbridge so it doesn't have as much work to do, but it may be of little benefit.
