dvd drive not showing after windows 7 installed

Hi, I have a Samsung R519 laptop, after installing windows 7 the dvd drive is not working. It is not shown in the device manager. Sometimes after a reboot it does appear in the device manager and I have tried to do the repair as stated on other forums, (remove upper and lower filters), but on all occasions there has been no upper or lower filters shown in the right hand panel. I know it is connected ok as I re-installed Vista and now have both OS and the dvd drive works ok in Vista.
Can anyone help or is it a case of contacting Samsungs helpdesk and asking them.
Thank you for any assistance.

Hello King and Welcome to Seven Forums!

Couple of questions, what edition of 7 are you running? What is the make of the DVD hardware? Also when you have 7 installed on it, can you open it and close it without having to manually?

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, dvd hardware is TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633B.
When you ask, can you open it and close it without having to manually? if you mean the dvd drawer, then I can open and close it with windows 7 installed.
Thank you for any assistance you can be.
Simon

Go here and download the IMSM (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) and install - you could also install the chipset software firstly (9.1.1.1019) REBOOT then the matrix(8.9.0.1023) REBOOT - hope this works for you - AHCI is enabled in your bios, and what happens during installation of Windows 7 is Windows 7 installs the Intel driver, but for correct functionality you need to install the intel matrix storage manager after installation is complete if you dont it will cause the problems with the DVD DRIVE.

This isnt your exact model as i couldnt locate it on the USA site if you live in another country try it, but this product has the same drivers - if it wont install and leaves a message the system hasn't the minimum requirements you dont need it in any case. These drivers are intel drivers and work for all Intel chipset laptops and will work with yours if you have a bios that supports AHCI. I could of directed you to intel download centre, but its not working correctly at the moment.
