    Upgrade Help please Acer aspire

i just upgraded and have a few issues.
alltogether windows 7 is fine but ...
    my system:
    acer aspire 5920G
    T7700 (2.4ghz 2mb L2 Cache 800Mhz FSB)
    2GB DDR2 Ram
    Geforce 8600M GT
    WIndows 7 ultimate x64

in devices and printers ive got CRD-PC with an exclamation Mark under devices and A310 under unspecified
i have installed all the drivers from the acer website

then i also have some usage related issue, i know probably the wrong forum but i dont know where to put them plus dont wanna make a 2nd thread

whenever i restart, i have to reselect VLC as default program to open avi's, it defaults to winamp. happens with all media files, but strangely not with nfo's (havnt tried any other files yet that i set to non default manually)

also, my toolbars disappear after evry restart. which is annoying cause i always move it so i have an XP style quickstart panel ...

i hope someone can help me out here, cause i quite like windows7 otherwise
    thanks for reading

Try a clean install instead, as upgrading seems to have a few issues for quite a few people.

Open control panel - in the top left corner - click view by, change to large/small icons
There you will see device manager :)

How did you go with the device manager? did you find any unknown devices?

Device Manager can be accessed by holding the Windows key down and pressing the Pause/Break Key. In the panel that comes up Device Manager is listed in the upper left of the Panel. The Device Manager is the same as it was in XP and Vista.

BTW, I upgraded my Aspire 7720 from Vista 32 bit Home that came with the PC to Win 7 32 bit Home and other than removing a couple of Acer programs and several others that were not compatible (flagged by the Win 7 compatibility check that runs first) EVERYTHING works on the PC.

    in device managers ive got:
    Network adapters
    - Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
    Other Devices
    - A310
    - Unknown Device
    have an !
strange thing is other than the issues listed in the first post the laptop is working, no crashes no problems with inet (wireless or cable) no performance problems etc ...

edit: went shopping so sorry that it took a while, also didnt see hte last 2 posts. i'd prefer a straight installation tbh, all the acer programms just annoy me. but cheers for the hint firebird will try that if all else fails
