    HP Deskjet 1280

Hi, i'm having trouble installing my HP Deskjet 1280 on windows 7, I have previously installed it on Vista with no problems, however now I seem to be having problems.

I do have the install Cd, but when inserted it gives me an error message saying to use the "add printer" option in controll panel. But when i use this and select "have disk" it does not recognise a printer driver to install.

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Microsoft or HP don't have a driver for this printer yet. You could try a 1200 series driver? :)

I checked HP.com for Deskjet 1200 drivers and they don't have anything above Win2k that I saw.
Here is a link to the Vista Ultimate 32 bit driver if you want to give it a shot.

I have had this issue in the past, I have used the 1220c driver (not software although i may attempt later). The 1220c is the predecessor to the 1280 and for the life of me i dont really now what the difference is. One is silver and grey and the other cream, I have both in my Office and they use the same cartridges. the Driver file is available from Microsoft on driver updates.

    thanks so much!

    Thanks tulliallan,

I took your advice to install 1220c driver but accidently installed 1120c which works a treat! Drivers were found using "add a printer button" in Devices and Printers.
My computer is an HP Windows 7 64 bit and HP were so unhelpfull on their support line. They told me since it was a printer problem and the printer is out of warranty I would have to pay £15.99 to go on to their pay support! Never mind that the computer is brand new, also an hp and the problem an internal driver.

I recommend this fix to everyone
