Sil 3124 RAID Controller I cannot get my Silicon Image 3124 PCI 4 port Raid Contoller to work in Win 7. Here are my specs, processes I followed:
1. Sil 3124 installed and worked in Win XP. Not used as a boot drive.
2. Upgraded to Win 7 Home Premium.
3. Sil 3124 no longer works, device manager shows the question mark. On boot up, I do see the drives installed but it gives an error message (can't recall right now).
4. Downloaded Win 7 drivers/Bios from Sil.
5. Tried to install driver, no go.
6. Checked Device Manager, and it sees two drives (that are connected) but lists them as failed.
7. Tried Flash Utility from the DOS command prompt, gives error that no card installed.
8. Worked on it for a few hours last night/this morning to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home 64-bit CPU Pentium Dual Core Motherboard Intel® Desktop Board D945GCL Memory 2 GB Graphics Card On-board Sound Card On-board PSU Corsair Case Thermaltake Hard Drives 6 1.5 TB

Went there and intalled "SiI 3124 64-bit Windows BASE Driver for Windows 7". V1.1.15.0. I also downloaded the BIOS. Neither seemed to work.
I never used this board for Raid 5 or anything, JBOD. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home 64-bit CPU Pentium Dual Core Motherboard Intel® Desktop Board D945GCL Memory 2 GB Graphics Card On-board Sound Card On-board PSU Corsair Case Thermaltake Hard Drives 6 1.5 TB

- it's generally advisable to get this type of driver direct from your mobo manufacturer
- but are you sure that Intel offers support for Windows 7, via that motherboard..?
- it looks as though it's on their discontinued list: Windows 7* Driver Availability for Discontinued Intel® Desktop Boards | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number benchtec, built to personal specs OS 64-Bit Windows7 Ult-SP1 CPU i7-965 Extreme Edition (8 Cores) at 3.3GHz (no OC) Motherboard BloodRage QuantumForce X58 (Socket1366) Memory 6G Corsair Dominator DDR3 - tripled Graphics Card 2xMSI AMD6870's in crossfire Sound Card Sonar(SB)X-Fi onboard Monitor(s) Displays SyncMaster P2050 20" Screen Resolution 1600x900 (widescreen) Keyboard Logitech G19 (wired) Mouse Logitech G9 Laser (wired) PSU 1000w Corsair Case ANTEC 900/2 all blue lights, etc.. Same 3132 card here, and it works great, though I did have the flash the card's BIOS to get Win 7 to let it use the drives. It could see the card, but not the drives. After the flash, all's well.
EDIT: If that's a PCI card, it may not work for a couple of reasons. My first 3132 card was PCI, and no way could I get it to work. I was finally able to get Windows to see the card, but every time I tried to access a connected drive, I would get a BSOD. It seems something that card did, wasn't too well received by the motherboard's BIOS. I don't think it was a Windows issue. I switched to PCIe and the new one works.
Also, many PCI RAID cards are SATA I or SATA 150 compatible only. If you're using SATA II drives, you need to set the drive for SATA I compatibility by using a jumper on the rear of the drive. If you don't, you will get an error, believe me. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Mellon Labs OS Win 7 Pro x64/Win Server 2008 R2 CPU Phenom II X4 955 BE @ 3400 Motherboard ASUS M4A79XTD EVO Memory 8 GB Mushkin Blackline DDR3-12800 @ 1600 7-7-7-20 Graphics Card 2 x Sapphire Radeon 1GB 4670 - Crossfire Sound Card VIA HD Audio on MB.
