If you can tell me the names of the files, I'll tell you where they are on my machine, for what it's worth. It may be different, however, since I'm running 64-bit, and you're running 32-bit.
Weeeell, if i knew which files are causing the conflict...
Chinakat stated that deleting some of them fixed his problem, but i'm not sure which and where they are, since i'm still not used to troubleshooting drivers in Windows 7 as opposed to xp.
now, if i go to the printer hardware properties, i can see that the "lexmark 6500 series" device has no driver installed (actually there are 2 with the same name, one is the scanner and has a default lexmark driver installed dated 21/08/2006, the other one which i assume is the printer is blanked).
when i use the "update driver" button, and i point it to the lexmark driver folder (unzipped during the official package install) it shows the correct driver, version 22.214.171.124 (if i remember correctly). However, install fails with a "file not found error"
a driver is not found when searching for it in the windows folder (drat, that worked on xp when a shitty installer copied the driver but didn't actually register it properly). naturally windows update can't help either. and the windows compatibility site just links me to the same supposedly compatible driver package.
that's so freaking annoying. Lexmark used to be a leading brand a decade ago, i swear i printed over 8,000 pages on a trusty laser printer that survived 3 years in military outposts with just one service (a small plastic wheel broke off, and some oil was required). the only issue i ever had with it was that the feeder sometime had problems dividing papers (though with all the dust and humidity, that's understandable). I used it on win98SE, win2k, winxp - no problems ever.
now that new over-complicated all-in-one POS can't even install properly.
