Lexmark x4875 driver issues after Win7 upgrade

    Hi

I recently upgraded to Win7 from Vista. I am using an Acer Aspire 7350 laptop. Following the upgrade I can no longer communicate with the printer via wi-fi and USB. The printer is still on the the wifi network and is working normally. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled but this has made no difference. The error I get when printing is that I need to turn on bi-directional printing but I cannot find this setting in the printer preferences. The Lexmark support site says that the vista driver should work with win7 but advises you to uninstall before the upgarde (I didn't do this).

Any help / ideas much appreciated.

Hi there, You can try (and don't quote me) doing a complete uninstall, making sure all version(s) of the printer are removed and the Lexmark Fax facility etc. also. Remove it from the network also.

Then you can disconnect the USB, hold down the green confirm and red cancel buttons on the machine itself. Hold them both down together for about 30 - 60 seconds, and that will do a factory reset on the computer itself. It'll then come up on the little digital printer screen asking for you to choose language and location again, do all that as normal. Then you can either reinstall the software from the CD it came with or download it here:

Then follow the initial install sequence again, and choose to set it up by WiFi in the first instance if you can. Hopefully it will treat it as fresh and you'll get it working again. If however you have any further problems I'd reccommend you call Lexmark's customer support centre, they have the capability to remotely access to assist you, or give you guidance over the phone. They are both friendly and dedicated as hell in my experience (the girl who helped me was by god honestly on the phone and/or chat through remote assistance for 6 and a HALF HOURS STRAIGHT! :O

All round they'll help you one way or another, if my suggestion doesn't work.
