Windows 7: Display Driver stopped Responding

Display Driver stopped Responding

I've built myself a new computer and can't seem to figure this error out. I can run on the internet just fine, watching videos and surfing the web. When I play a graphic intense game (Aion), it will let me play for a minute or two then I get the screen will flash a few times and go black.

"Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered succesfully." Is the error I get.

I have updated the driver for the Video card and Chipset to no avail. I did play Rise of Nations without any problems, but the game is pretty old and graphics are pretty bad. Does anybody know how to fix this issue? Is my graphic card overheating? Is it a problem with Windows 7? Any help would be appreciated. My specs follow.

I guess you have bios version 1207? Below link - downloads - select OS - bios - v1207 - this is easiest tool to update bios as you can do it from with in OS - ASUS Update V7.17.02 under utilities. 1207 is listed as the bios that supports the core i3 under CPU Suport List.

Once I've downloaded the bios update how do I run it to install? It's a zip folder and a .rom file pops out that windows doesn't recognize

You download the file 1207 from the site to your desktop make sure its unzipped by right clicking - if the extract option isnt greyed out select extract all - open asus update go to bios and the select search local disk or words to that effect and point it to the desktop - then bios folder and it will update the file.

are you running any utilities - sometimes they need to be adjusted to a higher threshold - you shouldnt damage anything - it would be one of the auto adjustments i would say - when you use a utility that accesses the bios it puts a heavy load on the cpu if there is some tool active while youe doing this it might register a higher temp and hence give an error.

I use probe with mine and it will start playing up if dont change its default thresholds - you can set them 5c higher dont go over 80c - i changed mine from 65c to 75c - it will warn you at 75c then - it never goes over 70c in any case - i also use a utility called q -fan and set it to performance and it saves the fan as it lowers the fan speed when the cpu is idle - yours - you will have to read up in your manual as its a later motherboard then mine.

Restarted comp and jumped into bios to check CPU temp.. It's running at 219 degrees ferenheit. Seems a bit too hot no?

I'm guessing when I ran the bios update it made my CPU hot? Flashing the ROM seemed to put a heavy toll on the comp.
