Looking for driver for Napa-GL8E motherboard

    Hi folks,

This is my first post on the forum. I have an HP Pavilion a6600f Desktop and have been having BSOD troubles with Windows 7 since I first installed it in November.

I'll post about the crash trouble later when I can get to my minidump on my machine, but I am wondering if anyone has a link for a current update for the motherboard driver for this system? It's a Napa-GL8E. I'm also looking for a current BIOS firmware update, since HP does not list a Win 7 compatible softpaq for either of these things. The only drivers they offer is Vista and Win 7 and since I wiped Vista pretty much as soon as I got the thing, in favor of XP, I don't have any source disks or software, since I much prefer a 'roll your own' kind of OS install, if you know what I mean.

Since then, this system has has a variety of OSs on it, including Linux, so the original backup stuff is long gone.

Anyway, I have been digging around the Internet looking for a firmware upgrade or driver for my motherboard and haven't been able to find much.

Hopefully anyone else with this same model or close to it can give me a push in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    Julie in AZ

    Julie, welcome to the forums.

For the motherboard it uses the nForce 7100/630i chipset,

Motherboard Specifications, MCP73M01H1 (Napa) - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

and you can get the motherboard/chipset drivers directly from Nvidia (if you need 64 bit just start over on the selection screen),

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.49 WHQL

As for the bios you are pretty much SOL, the only place you can get that is from HP. Too many things are changed there to be able to use a bios from the motherboard manufacturer, that's if it would even load (not too mention a very good chance of bricking the motherboard in the process).

Stormy, thanks for the information. I'm downloading this right now and will let you know how it goes. :)

I really like Win 7, and have enjoyed using it, when my computer is running. I've just been concerned about my system since I started having all the BSODs.
This forum is exactly what I was needing, though, so hopefully this will solve the problem.

    Thanks again,
    Julie
