Windows Installer not working for .exe installations.

Hello. I've been searching for over a week now.. and i still have found NOTHING that has helped me. I just recently got a Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 And This is about the 3rd time I've posted this up. I have been trying to download some .exe programs, but they don't seem to work.

    Here's the programs:

iTunes - Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

MapleStory - MapleStory - Global English Site

Every time i run the setup for these programs, a window pops up and says this:

'This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is valid Windows Installer package.'

I've tried everything, and still, scratching my head.

I've reformatted my laptop, reinstalled windows 7, and still the same problem.
I changed the compatibility, still the same problem.
I even went into security and gave SYSTEM full control and everything.

    Nothing worked.

    I've resorted to this thread:
Windows Installer not working for .msi installations.

But the solution wasn't my problem exactly.

    Can ANYONE help me please?

    Hi, Welcome to SF,

    Again its permission issues.

Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. On the "Start" menu, under search type "Run" and hit ok.
    2. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
    3. On the "Start" menu, under search type "Run" and hit ok".
    4. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.

If you have tried most of the steps the best bet i would recommend would be to log into Build-in Administrator and install the program there.

    Hope this helps,
    Captain

Right click on the .exe and at the bottom of Properties, is there a blocking on it or something?

What is the error your getting ?? Because it should work

Lets try this once more and post a screenshot or the exact error message if it fails

Start > CMD > Right Click and Run as administrator > net user administrator /active:yes

    Hope this helps,

Well, maybe that's the reason why.

When I looked up how to do Built-in Administrator, gave me a totally different method. Well, I tried it, and it DIDN'T work. tried it. three times.

Yes. that's something I just found out about today.

And yes, I checked it, and it doesn't seem to be blocked by any of my programs. Atleast I don't think so

Well, my Norton won't open, so I might have to check that. x:

So you have clicked it to unblock, and it still not working? Where is the file sitting, could be a folder that has restriction, move it to your desktop and run it. I had issue copying files but did know why till i "unblock" it. I too notice it recently.
