native resolution

hi guys,
Since installing my new mbb(GA-73PVM-S2H) I have struggled to get the supplied nvidia display drivers to work and had to revert to windows 7 drivers. Today I managed to get the latest nvidia update to work but I can only get screen resolution up to 1600x 1200, whereas with my old mbb and ancient graphics card gave me 1900 x 1200 which is the monitors native resolution. Anyone got a clue what I am missing?

les

monitor is an acer 23inch which came without any drivers, 7 sees it as 'generic non-pnp monitor' and it always ran at 1900 X1200 on my old 5200 graphics card.i have searched but cannot find any specific drivers on line.
