    Add Printers without admin rights

    Hello Guys,

I am looking for an solution.

I have a computer (no domain, no network, no internet ), with 2 Users ( 1x admin, 1x User with poweruser rights ). The User should have the right to install new printers ( the printer are changing every few days for testing ).

Normally Win7 recognize new printer, but only few he donīt recognize and he wants a admin user for installing driver. But I canīt give the User admin rights. What could i do, to solve my problem?

    Thank you for help :)

    Hi there
Are the printers on a Network / attached to other computers or are they LOCAL printers.

This matters because the solutions are different.

    Cheers

    Hi there
you can easily allow people to add hardware (selectively) without having to have admin rights.

The admin rights is probably related to some companies trying to prevent people from connecting USB drives / sticks etc to company computers.

    Have a look at this

You might need to look at Group policy setting etc.

Control ALL USB Devices Using Group Policy

I'm sure the problem is related to this.

    Cheers

    try this> start>gpedit.msc
expand computer configuration>windows settings>security settings>local policies>user rights assignment. Open load and unload device drivers. click Add User or group, then add the user or power users group.

i haven't try, but this sound like it might work. very interested to know.
