    Brother MFC -240C

Windows 7 has successfully detected my Brother Printer MFC - 240C. But during start up , a pop up message telling failure on control center to start up . This caused me unable to do scanning from control center. I did re-installed the driver, but it still keep coming & it look like unsolved problem.
Does anyone experiencing same problem to me & how to overcome this problem?

Right click BrCtrCen.exe click properties > compatability tab and set the comaptabilty to vista.

The file is located at the following location depending on if you have 32 or 64 bit windows.

    64bit windows7 C:\Program Files (x86)\Brother\ControlCenter3\BrCtrCen.exe

    32bit windows 7 C:\Program Files\Brother\ControlCenter3\BrCtrCen.exe

Folks were having similar issues with other scanning software bundled with their hardware in other posts here. Solution for them appears to be 7068. What worked on earlier builds failed on 7057 and works again on 7068. YMMV

I am on build 7068 and the control panel starts fine but you need to apply the compatibility setting i stated earlier in order to scan.

    Here is what i did

    1. download the Brother MFL-Pro Suite http://a1295.g.akamai.net/f/1295/163.../240INST-B.EXE

    2. Uninstall current MFL-Pro Suite before running the above file, reboot.

    3. Run 240INST-B.EXE it will extract files, got to the setup folder and run setup.exe, everything installs and reboot system.

    4. apply compatibility setting to BrCtrCen.exe otherwise you will get an error when you click scan.

    5. enjoy
