Just a quick question Cubic as I am off to bed now...

After installing the Toolbox software, did you reboot your pc?

Yes, thought it was the wise thing to do. The tool box works fine. Just not used to the Canon as I have been using HP 3500c for the past 10 years. HP software gives you a preview of the scan to modify and crop. Have not seen that with the Canon. Would love a 7-64 driver for that!!

With the Toolbox on the Canon, you can set where the scan is sent. I usually send it to Photoshop, from there you can do whatever you want with it!

Regarding the 7-64 driver for the HP, did you even try the Vista one .... using the original post method?

    scoutfu,
Rebooting did not make the scanner work. During the trial & error, I don't know how many times I rebooted the PC.
One question, scoutfu, does your scanner operate with Windows built-in module (Windows Fax&Scan)?
I also thought about getting HP scanner software, but I am kind of giving up.

By the way, I confirmed the functionality of the scanner itself with another PC with XP.

Thank you very much for your reply

    Cubic,

I'm afraid I lent my scanner to a friend months ago and haven't seen him since, so I cannot tell you at this time. I am hoping to get it back soon though.

I have just read that errors like 'This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy' can be caused by an error in the registry.

Could you try uninstalling the Toolbox software, then scan the registry for errors. I use a program called Windows 7 Manager, if you do not have such software.
Run the Registry Cleaner app, make a backup, do a scan, delete what comes up, then scan again, just to make sure, then reboot.

Then i was thinking that maybe you could try a newer version of the Toolbox software: CanoScan Toolbox 5.0.1.2a

No idea if i've tried this version myself but it can't hurt to try.... or try the old one.

I've sent you a pm, btw

    scoutfu,
Sorry, I do not know what PM is. I received a notification to my email that you posted a comment. Is that it?

I tried Toolbox 5.0.1.2a. It did not give me error messages other than Twain thing. I don't know if we made a progress...
I thought about trying other scanner tools from another vendor, but I have a feeling that since all just handles twain driver, it won't make any difference.

I will try registry cleaner. Or maybe this weekend, I can try on a virtual machine with a fresh Windows7.
    Will it ever end???

    Thanks for your advice.

    [QUOTE=

I have a LiDE 35 working with the LiDE 60 driver, using Windows 7 '64bit'

What you're saying is that you can't get it working with Photoshop .... erm so maybe your problem is.... 'Photoshop' ?

If you use the toolbox software, you can set it up to output the file to Photoshop, i used to do this myself![/QUOTE]

Nope Even when just using the toobox software An error message came up. Can't remeber what it was. I'll have to reinstall toolbox and let you know

    Win 7 64 Pro SP1 - works perfectly!

    Scoutfu,

    Just registered to say thanks!

I just set up my new win 7 pro 64 rig today.

Your instructions are perfect for getting the scanner (Lide 35) working with win 7 64 (on first try). Software appears to be better than the one I had on XP as well.

    Thanks again!
