installation problem with epson scan onto Windows 7 HP HDX 16 Epson Photo RX680 I recently upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). I ran a system recovery and fully updated Vista before upgrading into Windows 7. Once I tried to install “Epson Scan” software (I downloaded off from Epson website), the following messages came out: - "could not copy files. check the setup disk, then run the setup again" - "C:\Users\BENJAM~1\AppData\Local\Temp\\setup.exe" My only option at this point was to click “ok” Then a 2nd message came out: - "an error occured during setup. restart your computer, then run setup again" I ended up not able to install the “Epson Scan” at all! I tried installing the scanner driver first before installing the printer driver and before plug in the printer to the laptop. It didn’t work. I tried the “troubleshoot compatibility” feature on the installation file and chose to install the application under Vista verson. It didn’t work. I also copied the Epson Scan application off from the installation CD onto desktop and installed it from there by using troubleshoot compatibility feature. Still didn’t work at all. I wrote to Epson tech support, all they told me to do was to download the correct files at the support page for Windows 7 and they also replied me with this: - From your email it seems like you are having issue with the installation of the Epson Scan and Twain Driver for the Stylus Photo RX680 on Windows 7. This seems to be a system related issue. We ran a test with the Stylus Photo RX680 on Windows 7 (32 and 64 Bit) and we were not able to replicate this is issue. If you have another system I would suggest you try to install it on another system. Like everyone said, Epson Scan is a great software and I want to keep using it after upgraded my OS to Windows 7. So please heeeeeelp! I greatly appreciated. Ben | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP HDX 16 OS Windows 7 Home Premium (upgraded version) 64 bit system CPU Intel Centrino 2 |

I have an RX680 and everything is working in Win 7.
I would suggest uninstalling the 680 and all the Epson software, including the printer drivers and the scan program. Physically disconnect the 680 from the PC then restart the PC. After Windows 7 starts, do a new install starting with the printer drivers and ONLY connect the 680 to the PC when the Epson install program tells you (if you connect it first either the install will fail or incorrect drivers can be installed by Windows). After you have the printer drivers installed and the 680 has been detected and installed, THEN install the scanner drivers. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7, 64 bit Professional. As mentioned above install the printer driver Epson EasyPrint V3.10 following the instructions above Epson printers are one of the printers that require you to start the install with the printer unplugged then que you to when to plug it in. After they are installed i would make sure it has printed a test sheet. Then move on to the Twain Driver and Epson Scan utility V3.20A install. You should then have printing and scanning working fine. If you don't please post back and we can try another method. Good Luck. Try running the program as "Administrator" and see if installs. RIGHT click on the program icon for the scan and then LEFT click "Run as Administrator". See if that helps. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built OS Windows 7, 64 bit Professional. This is excellent almac! I was giving up hope already and went back to Vista. But until I read your post 2 nights ago and gave it one last try. I just had my laptop upgraded back to Windows 7 again, installed the Epson Scan and the printer driver and boom… it worked! Thankyou thankyou so much! I really appreciated and now I can fully utilize the Epson Scan again. installation problem with epson scan onto Windows 7 I recently bought an Epson Workforce 645 All-In-One and when I went to install the driver software on my fairly new Dell XPS 8300 the Epson Scan failed to install. I got the same error message "an error occurred during setup. restart your computer, then run setup again."
Everything else installed fine and the printer will print, fax and copy. I installed it on another Windows 7 x64 PC and it all installed correctly. I worked with Epson and Dell to resolve the issue with no luck. Almac posted an Epson link on Feb 2010 regarding an RX 620 multifunction machine that apparently solves this issue but I didn't find anything useful at that link.
I've tried all the advanced techniques of cleaning the registry, doing a Clean Boot, turning off Virus Protection, etc. All I have left is to reinitialize my PC back to the factory install but I really don't want to go that far back. I am not having any other issues with the PC. Epson concluded that it was an issue with Windows 7 on this PC and I would have to agree since it installed just fine on my Windows 7 Acer Laptop.
Can anyone help regarding this apparently old Epson Scan Driver Install issue?
