Problems with ATI video driver on Win7 x64

Hi! I recently installed Win7 Ultimate x64, then ATI driver from notebook manufacturers homepage. So, here's my problem: In device manager the only display adapter all the time is Standart VGA graphics adapter. Can't get my cards driver to work... Installation process went fine, in Local disk I have ATI folder. My laptop- Acer Aspire 7540g, video card- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470. Thx, in advance!

Have you restarted your computer since installation? If so you may want to look for your driver at the Windows Compatibility Center or try reverting back to the most updated Vista driver: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly.

Yeah, I did restart many times. In ATI homepage Mobility Radeon HD 5470 series doesn't show up to be compatible with win7, though when I bought my laptop it came with win7 Home premium x32 and everything was just fine (well, for a while, untill win7 started to freeze all the time...). Then I installed Win7 Ultimate x64... In Acer homepage I still have the option to download video driver for win7 Ultimate x64.

I did install the Catalyst for a couple of times (10.1 from ATI homepage, 115 Mb, and another one around 70 Mb, just like the one I'm downloading right now, except not from Guru3d) but it showed up only in Add/Remove programms. I couldn't open the control center nor do anything else. I'll try the one from Guru though. Thx, anyway!

OK, so I downloaded Catalyst 10.1 from Guru3d, disabled Standart VGA graphics driver, installed 10.1, restarted. After reboot windows installed Stand. VGA graph. dr., and in device manager there is still only that driver. In control panel there is also only Catalyst install manager.

One more thing I just noticed is that when I install driver using Catalyst Install Manager in custom mode there is no option to choose ATI display driver.

Yeah, I tried that too. Extracted Catalyst 10.1 in C:/ATI then tried to update from device manager browsing to that location, but all I got back is message- best driver already installed.
