Need new BIOS for Dell E228WPF Monitor

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and am having locking-up issues. MS has told me I need to upgrade the BIOS from Dell. On the Dell driver site, my monitor model, E228WPF is not listed. Any idea of where I can get this? Thanks.

i have never heard of a monitor needing a bios upgrade , do you mean a firmware upgrade, tell us the exact probs you are having ,we may be able to help you

here is the link to your mobo bios http://support.dell.com/support/down...n&catid=&impid=

"Update the BIOS" is a stock answer for "I don't know and I'm too lazy to find out what your real problem is".

Exactly what "locking up" issues are you having? I do a lot of support on the Dell users forum and there are no "lock up" problems reported for this model. There's nothing on the monitor, it should be automatically detected by Windows.

Be very careful when installing a BIOS update. On Dell's if the BIOS update fails and corrupts the motherboard the ONLY option is to replace the motherboard. Follow the Dell install instructions exactly and do not have other programs running when you start it.

Yes, I have a Dell Inspiron 531 and since upgrading to Win 7, the computer periodically freezes up, most of the time after it goes to sleep. I have to do a hard boot-up. I have worked a number of times with Microsoft Help, and the latest one told me to go back to Dell to update all the drivers and BIOS for graphics, video and monitor. I downloaded the available BIOS and drivers for my Dell model off of the Dell Website, but can't find anything for my specific monitor, the Dell E228WPF, and I'm not sure if the issue I have is related to the monitor or not.

Thanks for your help.

99% of the time win 7 will install the correct driver for your monitor , i should'nt worry too much about that what i would start to look for is a fix for resuming after sleep, i will try to find a link for you here is alink i found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930091 its mostly for vista but the same applies to Windows 7

Windows 7 on a Inspiron 531

I'm running Windows 7 32bit on Inspiron 531 with no problems, but there is an issue with running the 64bit version on a 531. There is no Away Mode driver for 64bit which controls the sleep feature. If you are running Windows 7 64bit then that's probably your problem. If not, there is a 32bit Vista dirver for your monitor HERE that you can use. That's what I had to do for my monitor.
