Have you checked / changed the system settings for it ?? Go to control panel >> Mouse and check there first.

As was said. Control Panel > Hardware > Mouse > Device Settings > Settings > Scrolling > One finger scrolling > Scrolling region > make the region slightly bigger.

You might have a different make touchpad. Scout around and look for scrolling region.

This is almost certainly a driver issue. Without an installed driver your touchpad will work, minus the scrolling function. Check in device manager and make sure a touchpad driver is installed. If it is installed, I'd try installing the driver again.

Kimpin, Don't get confused by these guys. It has nothing to do with the driver. It is a matter of how much touchpad area was assigned for scrolling and the size of your fingers. E.g., a touchpad that was OK for my wife did not work for me. But after I enlarged the scroll area slightly, it worked perfectly.
I would attach some snips of the said Device Settings Wizard, but I am on my desktop right now. If you still cannot find it, come back and I will fire up my laptop to make the snips.
