    HP: Compaq, Presario SR1320NX: Driver help please

    A friend of mine got windows7 and asked me to help him get it working on his Compaq; i think full computers specs can be seen here:
    Compaq Presario SR1320NX Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
    I looked arround for myself and the 3 major driver problems are:
    Ethernet controller,
    Audio Driver,
    and Graphics Driver
    This computer has had no modifications on it so anything on the link above should be accurate.
    The Audio driver and Graphics driver are less concearning to me becuase the last Compaq I helped install 7 on had unbeliveably great support though both winupdate and the hp-pdate application.
    So i was just wonderign if anybody had a workign driver for win 7 (32 bit / 86x) for the specifyed model HP: Compaq, Presario SR1320NX. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hallo Thorsummoner, I looked up your friends specs ;

    Product Specifications Compaq Presario SR1320NX Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

    I see HP havnt released new drivers for it since XP, if the Hardware is stock as you say the two things that stand out for me is you will have to upgrade the ram to at least 1GB you can go up to 2 GB.
    Also you may need to upgrade the Graphics card as it only has 64mb dedicated graphics memory which may work if you dont use Aero but you really need at least 128mb dedicated graphics memory
    If you need advice on a Graphics card i would suggest posting in that section of our forums.
    You may find this tutorial guide helpfull for sourceing out drivers;

    Installing and updating drivers in 7

    I only hope this is of some help in getting started

    Edit; you may also find this of help;

    Hey thanks mitchell64, those didn’t help any though; all I think I need is a generic Ethernet driver compatible with Win7, if I can't get one I'll have to find some way of reinstalling XP on it; unfortunately my friend didn't make any backups before installing 7,
    Well anyway, I’ll let this thread cook a little longer and see if anyone can help me, I guess I’ll look for an old XP disk in the meantime then thanks.

    According to HP you may need to update the bios first. You should read this Windows 7 upgrade procedure from HP. After the bios update most of the drivers will be in Windows update.

    I already upgraded my old compaq P4 to Win 7 and found drivers for everything. I even upgraded my GPU to a G-force 6200 PCI using the nvidia 96.85 driver and now have aero working also.
