    sound driver problems!!

for 2 days now i'm getting the error on startup "your audio hardware configuration has changed. you need to re-install soundmax". i have re-installed soundmax(it works) but the next time i turn on it appears again. my motherboard is Asus M2N. just to be clear i have sound, but the error is anoying and i can't use my speakers and my headphones at the same time...i have to swich between them every time...the only thing that i suspect on is the updates that were installed recently (before 2-3 days) the error came after that... i tried system restore but no luck.one more info my speakers are plugged in the rear jack and my headphones on the front...i don't think this has someting to do with it 'couse it worked till now. please help !

Here is your Asus support page - click downloads for drivers -
    : ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
You might check some of the newer M2N boards that may have the same sound and the latest driver - I did it with mine (P5E) before W7 but they have W7 DRIVERS for mine now.
    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Here is a later driver I found that might be worth trying :
SoundMAX ADI1988 Audio Driver version 6.10.1.6270 at Alpha Downloads

You may need to install the drivers in compatibility to mode to avoid a OS conflict :

To install a driver OR program in compatibility mode - right click the setup.exe file - click properties - click compatibility - check run in compatibility with vista/xp etc - check run as administrator - leave the rest blank. Start setup.exe and install.

Details of compatibilty mode - this applies to W7 also : You cannot install a device driver by using its installation program in Windows Vista
