MAJOR HELP NEEDED ! sound card driver broke RAID cont..

    Hi all,

I need some major help at the moment...

I have been using win 7 64 bit for around 2 weeks now, and it had been working perfectly, untill... i decided to install a sound blaster sound card ... I installed the drivers for win 7 64 bit and restarted, once it restarted i noticed that my onboard Intel ICH10R raid controller didnt start up after the bios booting sequence, and i then got the error message, "opperating system missing"...

I have tried all sorts of things and cannot get anything to work. I have a seperate pci-e raid controller which i had used for mirroring storage drives, i have tried to use this to create a new RAID 0 array for my 2 SSD's but i cannot install windows onto it...

I have now tried to keep the drives separate and to install windows onto just one of them but windows install is giving me the error message, "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information."

Guys i really dont know what to do, I have formatted each of the drives using my pci-e controller, but nothing is giving me any luck... i am really really really stuck.....

please does anyone have any ideas ?? i cant believe all this has happened just because of a stupid sound driver got installed !!!!!!!

if i didnt have all of my important info on the storage drives i would be majorly upset !

    please help !

    thank you !!

first thing i did was take the sound card out, but it didnt help.

I ran the windows cd and did the repair option but it was no help, the most it did was say that the MBR was corrupt, master boot record i believe...

So far I am managing to install windows on just one SSD, (it currently at abour 90% installed),

My onboard ICH10R raid controller still is not starting on boot up, goodness knows what has happened to it...

ive still no idea what do to, im kind of hoping that once ive installed win7 on this SSD that ill be able to install some of the Intel Drivers for the raid controller and maybe it will start up when i reboot... its a lot of guess work tho...

Check the compatibility of your hardware- both the sound card and raid controller if that's not it troubleshoot the drivers and go to the last Vista driver to see if that resolves the issue. For other hardware resolutions check this resource: Help with Windows 7 compatibility problems - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows.

ive managed to do that and have now managed to set up a new raid 0 configuration with the built in intel raid controller, have installed windows now and am currently trying to get my things off my storage drives so that i can creat a raid1 volume for them again.

this has been one major pain in the a$$ for me, ive been trying to sort this out for about 5 hours, give or take a few tea breaks !!

how can i ensure this wont happen again? as i do need to get this sound card installed to use its optical in/out features....

    any ideas mate?

well try the sound card straight away before you do anything else in case it causes another issue you are not wiping out a bunch of work

yes mate downloaded it straight from the creative website, it definitely said windows 7 64 bit...

i hope this never happens again lol !

its shown me how easy it is for everything to go wrong on a PC lol, im just so glad i had everything important on a seperate HDD which was in RAID1

Its been a right pain but ive managed to re-create my RAID1 volume so nothing has been lost there thank goodness !

all this because i installed a sound driver... it just doesn't make sense...

btw its now 02:19 AM here and im still sorting all my programs out again haha !

    more coffee this way
