Windows 7: PCI Simple Communication Controller Error

I purchase Dell Inspiron 1564 with Windows 7, all drivers are ok but PCI Simple Communication Controller driver not installed. I Try to install by internet but error is the same

please help me to solve the issue

that driver would be for a dial up modem and on Dells website the only modem they have listed is an extrenal USB modem is this an Inspiron laptop or desktop

I am also having the same problem and it seems to be common. Any way the Dell 1546 that i have does not has a modem. Any body got a clue about this PCI Simple Communication Controller?

I just downgraded a Windows 7 Inspiron 1564 to Win XP Pro for a client and had the same issue. 'PCI Simple Communications Controller' flagged in Dev Mgr turned out to be 'Intel Management Engine Interface' (Intel MEI). After finally digging up that little gem on the web, found a post indicating Dell package R243176 would contain the driver I needed. Use a download manager to download the files. You are most probably not able to download it completely off the DELL ftp servers.
