Canoscan LiDE 600F / Windows7 64bit Professional - Version6.1, (build 7600)

Hi

I am struggling to get my Canonscan LiDE 600F to work with Windows 7 (64bit).

I downloaded the file: lide600fvst641212ea16.exe from here:
http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0027007.asp

The strange thing is that it seems to install okay and when I connnect the scanner various popups appear, and finally it says that it has installed correctly.

BUT there are no noises from the scanner (unlike as soon as I connect it to my WinXP machines), and sure enough although Photoshop cant get the TWAIN thing to work at all. (In Photoshop, under File==> Import, it now now lists CanonScan LiDE 600F and also WIA CanonScan LiDE 600F but neither work, giving messages like Scangear: "Can not commicate with scanner", and "can not open the TWAIN source".

Any thoughts?

P.S. Should I make the driver run in a different mode? If so how do I so that?(!)

I don't know if this will help but have you tried installing the rgb and toolbox applications? Or even posisbly taking a look through the quick start guide and manual? If by different mode you mean compatibility then no since the driver is Windows Seven 64 bit. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...&modelid=14004

OK I have uninstalled and tried again.
This time I have installed from the USA page (i.e.
CanoScan LiDE600F film and negative scanner )
...the following files:
lide600fvst641212ea15.exe
argb1998win141ea24.exe
cstbwin5012aea15us.exe

But still no luck :[

Sorry yes I accidentally started 2 threads at once! (My apologies)

It turns out that after I installed the canofax driver, although I got a small popup message SAYING that it had installed correctly, it clearly was NOT correctly after all, because it was making pling-plong noises on my sound card and making the device manager list refresh every 2 seconds. (See my other thread:
Device Manager list flashing off/refreshing every 2 sec )

I am now wondering what might have been stopping it install?
Should I turn off Microsoft Security Essentials while I run the install?
Or find a way to install the browser in Windows XP mode... ?

John

P.S. Or what about installing Windows XP Mode?

I have tried EVERYTHING on this thread. Any more thoughts?
I am getting desperate.
Do I REALLY need to buy an entire new scanner just to have it work with Windows 7 (64bit).
