PCI Sound Card drivers not working Hey guys, I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Prof 32bit, after installing it I relised I can't get surround sound with my onboard sound like I was able to with XP. I went out and bought be a genius 5.1 surround sound PCI card.
Now the thing is...before installing the genius drivers, Should I first unstalled the drivers that came with Windows 7 and if i should how do I go about doing that.
I installed it thow, but at the moment when I enable 5.1 sound in my controle pannel only the front speakers work while playing music through WMP, I do however get surround sound in games and dvds, to get sound through all the speakers I have to select stereo sound again in the controle panel.
When I make any changes on the sound program provided by genius nothing happens. Think there might be a driver clash or something.
Please HELP..... | My System Specs |

Quote: when I enable 5.1 sound in my controle pannel only the front speakers work while playing music through WMP, I do however get surround sound in games and dvds That is exactly what is supposed to happen. Unless your music is being played from a DVD-A or was encoded in 5.1 all it will playback as is stereo. You want music to play in 5.1 you have to use some form of upmixing; CMSS3D on Creative cards, Stereo Surround/Fill/Expand or something similar on other sound cards, or Dolby Digital Live (or DTS Connect) if it is supported by the card. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Me OS Win 7 Ultimate x64 CPU Phenom II x4 955 @ 4 GHz. Guys.... I've tried everything, I unstalled every single audio driver on my PC, then I installed the Windows 7 compatable drivers for my sound card ( which I downloaded), and guess what...ALL I COULD SEE IS HORIZONTAL LINES AND BOOOOOF GOES THE PC,(restarted on its own) so I reinstalled my old sound drivers...ow by the why, after installing the new drivers nothing changed relating my sound, its the same as what I mentioned in my initial post.
So know I'm back to stereo sound which on 5.1 mode only comes out the front left and right speakers | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number -ME- OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit CPU INTEL sandybridge i7 2600 @ 3,4ghz Motherboard Asus p8p67 REV 3.1 Memory Corsiar 1333mhz 4x2gig DDR3, total 8gig Graphics Card MSI GTX560 ti Twin Frozer II 1gb 256bit GDDR5 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung B2330 23" , LG 22" Flatron W2242S Screen Resolution 1920x1080p , 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Microsoft Sidewinder 4 Mouse Saitec CYBORG R.A.T.5 Lazer gaming mouse PSU Corsair TX750w Case Cooler Master 690 ii Advance Side Window Cooling CPU: CM Hyper 212 Plus with 2 Blue LED 120mm CM fans Hard Drives 250 gig WD : System,
