PCI Sound Card drivers not working

Hey guys, I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Prof 32bit, after installing it I relised I can't get surround sound with my onboard sound like I was able to with XP. I went out and bought be a genius 5.1 surround sound PCI card.

Now the thing is...before installing the genius drivers, Should I first unstalled the drivers that came with win7 and if i should how do I go about doing that.

I installed it thow, but at the moment when I enable 5.1 sound in my controle pannel only the front speakers work while playing music through WMP, I do however get surround sound in games and dvds, to get sound through all the speakers I have to select stereo sound again in the controle panel.

When I make any changes on the sound program provided by genius nothing happens. Think there might be a driver clash or something.

    Please HELP.....

That is exactly what is supposed to happen. Unless your music is being played from a DVD-A or was encoded in 5.1 all it will playback as is stereo. You want music to play in 5.1 you have to use some form of upmixing; CMSS3D on Creative cards, Stereo Surround/Fill/Expand or something similar on other sound cards, or Dolby Digital Live (or DTS Connect) if it is supported by the card.

Guys.... I've tried everything, I unstalled every single audio driver on my PC, then I installed the win7 compatable drivers for my sound card ( which I downloaded), and guess what...ALL I COULD SEE IS HORIZONTAL LINES AND BOOOOOF GOES THE PC,(restarted on its own) so I reinstalled my old sound drivers...ow by the why, after installing the new drivers nothing changed relating my sound, its the same as what I mentioned in my initial post.
So know I'm back to stereo sound which on 5.1 mode only comes out the front left and right speakers
