Are theese preview drivers only for HD series, or will they also work for older models(x1950)?
KRONie - Good Morning! That is a good question. When you say (x1950) what are you referring to? If is HP then you can research it through HP internet posted documentation. Also, sometimes You can find out by calling their service line. In the past I posted that type of question with the ATI support group and received a response. Also if it works in Vista it will probably (my technical guess it won't for sure work in W7). I hope this helps because I am guessing. God's Speed and if I can help more, let me know. Patrick C

Gah! The first drivers I installed, 8.12 for Vista worked. When I tried 8.12 Hotfix for Vista - install freezed, then I tried Windows 7 preview -install freezed, now I try to get the 8.12 vanilla back but they freeze also. So I'm without a friggin' driver.
Yes I do the Vista compability mode, yes I've started with disable driver signing check. I've aldready reinstalled W7 today I don't want to do it again.

******* Ati their 8.12 driver didn't work on XP 64 eighter.

I'm giving up W7 this instant untill this gets fixed.

johngalt - I have downloaded the Windows 7 preview drivers from AMD/ATI and install them with no incident for the Windows 7 32-bit. Today I reformatted the partition I had Windows 7 32-bit on and installed windows 7 64-bit, as well as activation for both with MS provided keys. I installed the AMD/ATI preview drivers for Windows 7. I installed this on my dv5-1125nr HP Laptop with 4 Gigs of RAM. My install is working very well in every regard and all components working correctly with no adverse flags in the device manager. I am willing to help anyone I can. Windows 7 performs very well. Oops - I mis read WDM for WDDM lmfao - oh well.

johngalt - Hi! For my HP dv5-1125nr Apparently I made a mistake saying that I was able to get the ATI Radeon 3200 HD graphics drivers to install, using the beta_w7-64_8-56-1-081203a-72489.exe ==>64bit ATI driver to install in windows 7. I have gone to the ATI Graphics driver page (Support & Drivers) and downloaded that driver. The 64-bit Vista driver works great in 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate. The posts on this w7 forums page for me produce the '403 access denied error. Also the posts on the w7 pages have a ....-070968.exe driver not the one I found.
When I install thebeta_w7-64_8-56-1-081203a-72489.exe ==>64bit ATI driver, What happens is, the install starts and hangs and the Task manager and forcing it to stop is the only way out. Any suggestions?? Patrick C

I just installed the Windows 7 Preview drivers on my Laptop HP dv5-1125nr that is equipped with the ATI Radeon 3200 Graphics. After the install the Driver installed is "ATIRadeon HD 3200 Graphics (Engineeering Sample WDDM v1.1) ; Driver version 8.550.3.0.
When I was beta testing Vista, AMD/ATI wouldn't even respond to enquires that the drivers wouldn't work. I consider it to be a real plaus that AMD/ATI already have drivers!!
The Windows 7 AMD/ATI drivers install and are working without a hitch. This beta software really works gooood!
Whomever reads this I made a mistake in posting that I have the Windows 7 preview drivers from ATI working on my Laptop. If anyone has a ATI link to the windows 7 ATI preview drivers for Radeon HD 3200 graphics driver for Laptop/Mobility I would like to know it. Sorry for the erroneous post. Patrick C

I may sound really confused but what I originally thought was true is true. Somehow after installing the preview drivers I somehow selected the Windows generic driver. When I tried again to reinstall the Beta ATI driver The Catalyst Manager would hang. I doesn't show as installed in the Programs list, but when I forced the driver to install by physically selecting from the directory for the ATI beta driver it installed and the Catalyst manager also is there and functions to allow the user to adjust the video. Thank You guys. Sorry but sometimes getting the right answer takes s-t-e-p-s. Patrick C

How do I force the install

I have a ATI 3850 video card and I believe I do not have the proper driver installed. Windows 7 64 bit operating system sees the 3800 series card, single agp card. rating of 7.9. I can not get areo to work. What am I missing? Someone from the top please. I have all the check boxes checked for animation and such, I have been there. I can get transparancy to work, I am looking at a Buffalo, as a desk top. What am I looking to do to make sure I am testing with all the bells and whistles. I do have the WDDM 1 ? installed, thru updates. I can see high resolution. ??????? Help or I am going back to Vista Ultimate, to much spent, time and money screwing around. Yuck
