My Laptop DVD Drive stopped working and is not recognised.

    Good Evening Everyone

it was a sunny tuesday afternoon i had alot of "games for windows" DVD's and i put on of the dvd and all of a sudden the dvd drive doesnt work, it stopped working. Strange... when i installed windows 7 ultimate my laptop recognised it but i never tested it out.
I removed the DVD drive and put it back but it doesnt work, when i had windows 10 on the laptop the dvd drive ran fine.
My guess is its because of a faulty driver. Its not broken it simply is not recognised as far as i know

Is there any way to get the dvd drive back?

You didn't say how old your laptop is, but it sounds like you give its disc drive a lot of use.

Without knowing more, it's my guess the disc drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

Have you tried different discs to see if any of them are recognized and can be accessed?

my laptop was released in 2017. Thats 6 years
Is it normal for disc drives to die in constant use?
