Driver issues on dv1000 running Win7 Ultimate

I read a few threads and seems like you guys want to know the HW ID. Here's the ones I have:

    2 under "Other Devices":

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30A0103C&REV_0A
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_30A0103C
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_088000
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&CC_0880

    And

    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_30A0103C&REV_01
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_30A0103C
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_088000
    PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&CC_0880

And under Sound I get these:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0&REV_1000
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0

The sound card is the AC97 for most HP/Compaq laptops (from what I've read).

The funny thing is the same install on my zd8000 with the same sound card was fixed after the first windows update after the clean install. The sound works on it. Now the sound on my dv1000 hasn't been fixed after running the first windows update. I've tried a few of the .sys file renames listed in a few threads about fixing it, and after about 5-6 restarts after trying, I'm still without sound.

Can anyone help out? Thanks guys!

Try installing the media card reader driver(s) and the audio from here HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook PC series- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center They stopped support after Xp so you will need to try and install in XP comatibility mode https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Fabe

    Sound is Back!

After about 6 months of endlessly reading posts ...with all answers either foolish (go to hp driver page...c'mon!) or flat out wrong. By experimenting myself, I finally able to get sound on my dv1000. The first thing you do is use the second hardware id from audio details in device manager (that was the last thing you listed...HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_103C30A0. Copy it and go to Microsoft Update Catalog and let the active x install. Copy that ID into the search. You should get 4 downloads. Choose to download all...after they are done you can see 2 folders containing .cab files. Go to the folder with only one cab file and extract it to a folder with winrar. Execute the HFX file after setting it for vista compatibility and run as administrator. After it runs you will, alas, finally hear sound through the speakers. After the program runs, it should tell you to restart, if it dosen't; restart manually or you will lose the sound. This is not a fluke as my wife has a dv1710 CTO and mine is a dv1600 CTO worked like a charm on both!
