    Apple Cinema Display on Windows 7 64bit Ultimate


    New lovely i7 based Nvidia Quadro FX driven Windows 7 64bit PC imminently arriving..

    Currently run XP Pro SP3 and the wonderful "WinACD" 32bit drivers that allow the Apple 20" I have to work 100% on Windows (resolution, USB ports,side buttons) etc. Unfortunately the developer of WinACD has ceased production so there's no support for any Windows x64.

    Searched for ages round the net but no joy on drivers for the Apple that might work. Just wondering if it's going to be OK as a "plug and play" because I'm seeing a few people listed here with Win 7 x64 systems running Apple 23's and 30's in their system specs and they must be working else it would be hard to type their posts... Yet there don't appear to be any x64 drivers to be found....

    So...... just wondering if one of you kind souls running x64 Windows 7 and an Apple monitor would let me know how it's going for you? Perhaps Win 7 x64 is so advanced it doesn't need any..? Here's hoping....

    Ok no takers! I know, it's a weird combination. Hopefully this will help somebody stop worrying.

    I got my new Win7 64bit Ultimate today and without installing any drivers the Apple Cinema 20" I have (aluminium version) is working fine


    • The monitor is recognised as Plug and Play but is named (automatically by Windows 7) as "Cinema".


    • The optimum resolution for this monitor of 1680 x 1050 was automatically detected and set by Windows 7


    • The power on off button works as does the brightness/backlight adjustment buttons up and down


    • The USB ports work fine though the device manager shows a Yellow warning triangle. I let Win7 try and fix this but it could not. However currently have a memory card reader and a USB WD Passport HDD plugged in and both working 100%.
    • Windows "Action Centre" reports no issues

    So I was concerned for nothing really.
