Windows 7 - Asus pro 80 laptop - mic not working

Hello again ,
I am really happy with windows seven but for one problem. Since installing win 7 my microphones both the internal and the 3.5 jack mic no longer work. I have used the search function here and it seems to me that many have had a similar problem. It seems that this could be a driver problem. Having said that I cannot see a mic in the harware list but to be honest i wouldn't know what to look for.

I have checked all the mic and sound settings


A search by Asus for a suitable driver showed that only one for Vista 32 bit is available. I have a disc with drivers (see attached) that was supplied with the lap top which originally had vista 32 installed.

My questions are :
Could this be a driver problem ?
Could try to install a vista driver ?
If so where do i look for this driver ( see attached list of folders )


any advice would be appreciated as I need the mic for university conference calls

Hi scala,

Is that list of folders on the old Vista disc you mentioned? It's probably better to just get the driver online than try to pull it off the disc. If you are using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit then yes, try the Vista 32-bit driver. If you're using a 64-bit OS, well then try to find a Vista 64-bit driver. Let me know how it goes.
