Window 7 Drivers

Will Windows7 use the same drivers as vista? or will we have to wait months/years again until the product manufacturers catch up.

I don't believe that there will be many problems with drivers as they are basically building on the Vista kernel. Not to mention MS can't afford another fiasco like they had with Vista and the software developers.

Given the speed of technological development and huge spectrum of harware and accessories that an operating system has to cater for we are always going to have some driver problems. But as Ted says, Vista has certainly lessened the inpact and given Microsoft a gentle nudge towards maximising compatability.

I believe MS knew full well what they were doing when they released Vista. They knew to improve security they would have to completely re-vamp the OS as people understood it. They knew that there would be problems. But they had no choice.

That's why they've done it in installments, to lessen the impact.
I believe they knew that Vista would be the first installment of "Windows 7", heck they were talking about "Windows 7" not long after they released Vista.

Just my two cents!

Hello Loopyloo,

I'm sure there will be some differences in them and eventually not work in Windows 7, but for now I'm not having any problems installing my Vista drivers in Windows 7.

Wish I could say the same. I can't get sound out of my amp... anyone would think it's a beta release or something

Now I can, just before I'm about to remove 7 too

Smartey,

You might see if installing the Vista audio driver using Compatibility Mode set to Vista RTM mode may allow it to install and run better. I'll be creating a tutorial on this later today, but it's the same as for Vista, but just Vista has been added to the list in Windows 7.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
