8 gig sd card not being recognised Hi
I have 2 8 gig sd cards, 1 Transcend and the 2nd a Sandisk, however Windows 7 refuses to recognise them in either the card reader or the usb adaptor. XP reads them fine and Windows 7 can read the 2 512 meg cards I have. Any ideas to resolve would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

When you say XP reads them fine, are you using the same card reader on XP as on Win 7? As pebbly said, your reader will need to support SDHC to read cards greater 2G. If you are using the same reader and it works on XP but not Win 7 then I would go to the mfgr. website to see if there is a driver for Win 7 or Vista. Also, are you running 32 or 64 bit? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built, Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop OS Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit), Win 7 Pro (32-bit) CPU 3.4Ghz 3770K i7, 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Motherboard Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Dell Memory 8G, 3G Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 5770, Mobile Intel 965 Sound Card High Definition Audio (Built-in to mobo) Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2409W 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard IBM Model M - used continuously since 1986 Mouse Microsoft PSU Antec Case Antec 100 Cooling CM 212+ Hard Drives 128G SSD OS; 1.5T & 2T Data on Desktop, 320G for laptop Internet Speed 1.5M down 1.2M up :-( Other Info Also have an Acer Aspire netbook, a home-built AMD Dual core (Minecraft server) and home-built Pent 4 all running Win 7. How old is your system. I have the same problem with a 3 year old laptop. But at that time SD-HC cards did not yet exist. So the readers are not designed for it. And it does not seem to be a driver problem, it is the physical reader. But all my PCs that are younger than 2 years can read those cards without problems - Vista and Windows7. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 8 gig sd card not being recognised problems?
