    Generic driver

When I had Vista on the PC the webcam ran well with the drivers contained within Vista but when I upgraded to the "correct" driver the performance dropped.

Following a clean install of W7 the webcam again ran better on the generic driver but after I had done another clean install of W7, after an almighty foul up, the generic driver has vanished and I am left with the driver W7 tells me to download.

Can I get the generic driver back. I do not have a Vista installation disc, just the rcovery discs.

    Cheers,
    Richard

If you uninstall the device in Device Manager, and reboot, Windows 7 will do its best to find a driver for it. It will look in Windows Update.

That is the best you can do to get your generic driver back.

I tried this before, and again since your post. It simply either reloads the duff one or if I ask it to look online it claims it cannot find one.

I guess I can't find the drivers here.
As far as I can see, the E System 1201 does not come with a webcam. Are you sure on your model number?

It is a standalone webcam and Unknown Device Identifier states it is an "SQ930 USB 2.0 video camera" sold by SQ Technology. The driver version supplied by SQ Tech is 2.1.4.309. This works after a fashion. The video is behind the audio and jerky.

I have decided to dump the webcam and buy something decent, thanks for trying to help.
