Windows 7: Inspiron 6000 and Windows 7 -- Drivers

Good morning, SevenForum friends,

I have installed Windows 7 on my Inspiron 6000 and all I need are drivers that will work. I once had an installation of Windows 7 RC, but I didn't think ahead and take down the names of the drivers that worked (and I was able to connect via wi-fi, have nice sound, and good video with those drivers that I installed).

Well my mind reading power has been used up today, so you're going to have tell us which drivers you need, unless someone else has any MR power left in the tank.

Let's see, it appears that I need a wireless driver, an audio driver, and a video driver.

Dell has only developed drivers for that model through XP. You may be able to use those (especially if you are 32bit) by installing the drivers in "compatibility" mode. To do that right click the installer>properties?compatibility>check XP

It turns out all I needed to do was connect an ethernet cable to my computer and then watch it automatically update the wireless and video drivers. I was able to enter in the service tag for my Dell on the Drivers & Downloads website and it gave me a recently updated audio driver that works perfectly.
