WD Caviar Black 1TB Slow? Hello!
I've just installed a new computer and I don't know if my Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA Hard Drive ( WD1001FALS) is slow or not. Are there any drivers or updates for the disk? | My System Specs |

Here's 2 500GB WD caviar blacks in RAID0, give you an idea running with that. Still a 5.9 W.E.I
You won't get higher than a 5.9 with a mechanical hard drive. Want to go higher, have to go with Solid State Drives -SSD's. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Airbot 2.0 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 920 (D0) @ 4Ghz, *26c idle *65c full load on air Motherboard Asus P6X58D Premium - Sata 6Gb/s - USB 3.0 Memory 12GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator -CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 at 1600MHz Graphics Card EVGA GeForce GTX 480 -Aftermaket Accelero Xtreme Plus cooler Sound Card ASUS Xonar D2X Monitor(s) Displays 1 LG 24" Flatron W2453V-PF 1 Samsung 24" P2450H both 2ms RT Screen Resolution 1920x1080@60hz Keyboard Logitech Wireless MK700 Mouse Logitech Wireless MK700 PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Cooler Master HAF 932 Cooling Case Fans *3 230mm, *1 140mm/CPU - *Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme Hard Drives 1 OCZ Vertex2 180GB SSD

I'd love to get another one in the near future. When it writes data to the drive, it will write parts of files to both drives.
The main drawback to raid 0 is that when 1 drive fails, you will lose all of the data that is on both. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HAL-9000 OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU Intel i7 3770K Motherboard Asus Sabertooth Z77 Memory 16GB DDR3 1333 Corsair XMS3 Graphics Card XFX HD6950 2GB EyeFinity Sound Card Logitech G35 & Sennheiser PC135 & VIA HD Monitor(s) Displays 23" HP 2310e, 23" Samsung B2230, 21.5" Viewsonic Screen Resolution 5760x1080 Keyboard Logitech G15 and G13 Mouse Logitech G700 Gaming Mouse PSU Antec True Power New 650watt Case Cooler Master HAF-932 Cooling Corsair H60 Hydro Cooler, 3x 230mm Fans, 2x120mm Fan Hard Drives 16TB of Storage

Drivers will rarely make disc I/O "faster". You're limited by mechanical delays and not "access strategy". More cache is better. Having Write Caching on helps. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 CPU AMD Phenom II X2 (dual-core) Motherboard GA-MA785GM-US2H Memory 4G Graphics Card integrated ATI HD 4200 Sound Card integrated Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Digital Media Pro Mouse Logitech WIRED!
