    Can't Find Ethernet Driver (solved)

Okay, so I just installed W7 this morning. The installation went very smooth. I love my new windows! However, I cannot connect to the internet, nor hear anything because I don't have correct drivers for my Ethernet or Audio Cards. Here are some pics that might help you smart people solve my problem. (see attatchments)

Hello AreoX Welcome to SevenForums. What is the make and model number of the computer that you have WindowSeven installed on. You will need to load a driver for your pc to get online.

    Hi AreoX, and welcome.

The fact that you are seeing & indeed posting on this forums is some good news. Do you not have any installation disks at all? They could be XP or Vista it doesn't matter. Unfortunately the images don't give enough info for us to help 100%, make & model of some discription would be great.

hey guys, thanks for the quick reply!

im not exactly sure what it is. My motherboard a Gigabyte S series, and the Ethernet card (i'm pretty sure) is made by NVIDIA. My computer was custom built by a friend so I don't have the Make/Model.

My Motherboard came with 2 disks with drivers, the first says NVIDIA GeForce 6100/nForce.It has the drivers for Audio, Network, and Serial ATA on them, however it is made for Vista and I tried to install them, it didnt' work.

The Second has Drivers for NVIDIA Chipset, Serial ATA, RAID, Network and Audio. However this is made for Vista as well.

I switched over to WinSeven from WinXP, so I have the OS CD's for Windows XP Professinal as well as Home edition. I could access a Vista CD from school too if that helps, Orbital Shark asked. Thanks again for the quick replies and let me know if you need more information, I will try to obtain it.

EDIT: I am posting here from my laptop, so I do have the ability to access the internet to download the drivers when I know where and how.

Another place to look while in the device manager is under the network adapters! If you see a yellow marked item in there you need to right click on that and select the make and type from the list of names and browse to where you have drivers stored in order to see those installed.

How are you connected by way of modem, nic card, onboard Lan, usb port? That would help here as well as which 7000 build as far as 32bit or 64bit. You didn't add that to the 7000 shown in your sig there.

Night Hawk is spot on, you could try that approach.

Even though your drivers are for Vista theres a good chance they may still work. If you manually navigate to the network driver's directory you can change the compatability of the setup/install file for Vista. This has had the desired effect on many machines. Also, once this is done (and if it works) Windows Update will notify if there are any updated drivers.

With a cable modem here along with a nic card not presently in use a new build being installed will still see the nic card and miss the modem entirely. Once in the DM I then right click to disable the nic card followed by unplugging the power from the external modem used.

When replugged in several seconds later and the modem sees a fresh detection I then browse to folder where the last update for that is unpacked to simply select the correct driver. Bam online in no time.

On the previous dsl setup a usb adapter would be see even by name in that section there where the same right click to browse actually saw the original 98 drivers installed! Once online and the updates start rolling in the optional hardware then showed the XP version.
