    Hello, wkgbn Welcome to SevenForums
Most of the time with a new install if something do not work then its a driver issue. But you should also have a look at volume controls. I know you have done that already so you say you where running xp and then installed seven. Maybe you need to use the xp drivers? Have you ran windows update to see if windows can help find drives for your sound device. Maybe un-install your device from device manager and let windows recognize it again. good luck and hope you enjoy seven.

It looks like you have a SoundMax audio controller, you might want to try this driver from Toshiba, it's always worked perfectly for me.

I posted a thread about SoundMax earlier, it looks like the default Windows 7 drivers, even in RC are buggy.

    Download

Have you tried the driver package from my earlier post?

I've used the same driver for each build of Windows 7 and it works perfectly.

I Googled your laptop and we share the same audio controller, namely 'SoundMax'.

    Damn thing that it is.

Good stuff mate, glad I could help. :)

You might want to hang on to that driver for RC, whilst my audio worked straight off with build 7100, it was extremely quiet until I installed that driver.

If you find that your audio isn't quite as loud as you'd like, then I would recommend you grab a copy of 'SRS Audio Sandbox', it really seems to bring out the best from the SoundMax controller. Certainly makes mine louder and sharper.

    Unfortunately though it isn't free.

    Happy listening!
