    wireless network driver problems!

    Hi all!

I have a netgear WG311v3 wireless network card that just doesn't seem to want to work!

Windows mentions something about not being able to verify a digital signature. (code 52)

Any ideas as to how i can get this working?

    Thanks!

unfortunately the only way that this card seems to be able to run on 64bit windows 7 is by downloading a fix that could compromise the security of your machine.found the fix by googling wg311v3 code 52 if you wanted to have a look but i wouldn't want to recommend going that route, sorry paperfish

Hey there! Yeah, i had been doing reading online about it just before posting. Found out about a weird 2gig ram limit (if you reduce your ram to 2gig, the driver works). -on top of that i read about the 'unsecurity' fix.

In addition, I found a Netgear forum with people going off about how they're not supplying customers with functional drivers. Official word from Netgear is that it's not their responsibility. Apparently drivers fall on the shoulders of Microsoft. So i looked into this. Microsoft appears to link people directly back to the computer manufacturers (Dell, HP, Asus etc....) -which of course doesn't help anyone that bought hardware outside of these companies (me).

No one appears to be taking responsibility for this, which surprises me.

Thinking I might give it a week, then just delete the win7 OS and shift back to Vista.

Do you happen to have a link to this "official word from Netgear"? I'd love to read that, especially since it's always the hardware vendor's responsibility to supply drivers for hardware.

    Hiya Kegger!

Yeah, I just managed to find that link again. It's the installation instructions for the WN511B:

    Answer

They have a note up the top which i guess i mis-read. I suppose what they're actually saying is they don't support windows 7's default drivers for any hardware.

But they do have this page here for driver news:
    Answer

At the bottom of that page, it states that the driver just isn't available at the moment.

I'll try to register for netgear support, see how much they have to say on the matter...
