    Touchpad Driver - Toshiba

    Hi:

As many other people after upgrading to W7 I lost the scroll function on my touchpad. I've tried with the several Synaptics drivers (including the last version of the generic driver) but nothing seems to work. Of course my old XP drivers are not working under W7.

    Any suggestion???

    Toshiba Satellite M40X-115.

Of course, but Toshiba does not provide W7 drivers for this laptop, only XP.

Do you know who the touchpad manufacturer is? If Alps or Synaptics I'd be seeing what Windows 7 drivers were available and use the OEM one since they are not generally OC manufacturer sensitive.

Welcome to Seven Forums. You can try installing the XP driver iin compatibility mode. Compatibility Mode Or you can go to device manager>right click on the touch pad (if present) then properties>details tab>drop down menu>select hardware id>Copy and Paste the hardware id string. We can then look for a compatible 32bit driver for you. Thanks. Fabe

    Hiya pal

One of the guys at work has a Toshiba Sat Pro M40 (psm46E) with win7(32-bit). I've just tested the synaptics drivers from the Toshiba website and the scroll works. I know the M40 isn't in the supported list on the Toshiba website but the drivers seem to work for me.

    Toshiba Synaptics touch pad driver

    Toshiba Alps touch pad driver

    good luck

When trying to install it in compatibility mode it actually does not do anything... It starts uncompressing the file and after that it closes everything.

Those Synaptics and Alps drivers are being installed but are not recognizing my touchpad as so, which brings me to the following issue: as I had already noticed, there is no "touchpad" on the device manager. There is only "Mice and other pointing devices" and inside, "PS/2 compatible mouse", so when I install those drivers I have the options of changing the functions of the buttons and all those features related to mice but there is not a single option related to a real touchpad (e.g. my beloved scroll function).

Anyways the hardware ID of that "PS/2 compatible mouse" that my computer is detecting is:
    ACPI\PNP0F13
    *PNP0F13

Thanks for your answers! I feel I'm closer now!
