Dual Boot 7 and XP Lose Video Drivers

I have a computer for work with XP installed. I partioned the hard drive and installed 7. Seems to work fine under the dual boot except that when run 7 and then restart into XP i lose the video drivers, it throws up an error that there are no drivers installed and my resolution is decreased. If i restart back into XP again everything works fine. It only happens after i boot into 7 and then start xp. I am running a lenovo W500 and the video card is a ATI FireGL V5700. Any Ideas?

Instead of warm booting into XP, do a shutdown. Wait a few seconds. Then bring it back up. Once the devices are initialized with the W7 drivers, if it's not compatible, you're stuck. I used to dual boot Windows and Linux. There were some devices that would not work in Linux if I cold booted into Linux. But if I booted Windows first to initialize the hw, then I could warm boot to Linux and use the devices. Guess it's a double edged sword. :)

you've done it right. problem is der is no auto driver with windows xp...

if you want to install dual boot with your pc install first the earlier type of windows e.g. xp first and then 7 into separate drives it doesnt work reversibly.....

windows 7 has autodriver feature.. while xp has none even with XP SP3..
