Well basically, depending on HOW you define "not present in Win8" -- that could be correct.
I tried testing a system with a 915GM chipset -- a newer version than the one discussed in this thread -- and, while the screen does display, it does NOT support the features present in Windows 7. Why? Because, for all Intel chipsets prior to the 945, the Windows 7 Intel
driver is an XPDM driver, meaning, it's an XP-era driver and, unfortunately, MS removed XPDM support entirely from Win8.
Which means, like I was, the OP will be provided a GENERIC VGA driver for Win8, and will NOT have a choice about any others.
I got 1280 screen res in Windows 7 with my 915GM driver; in Win8, I only got 1024 -- with NO options to increase it.
My point about commenting on ViStart is that, from what I read, the OP's concern was with getting higher screen resolution, which from what I've seen, is not improved in any way by installing ViStart.
